Sharon Shapiro

Sharon is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT). She has a Master of Science in Counseling (Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling), A Master of Arts in Speech Communication, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from San Francisco State University.

Sharon also completed a Preliminary Multiple Subject Teaching Credential preparation graduate program focusing on foreign language instruction from HUC-JIR Rhea Hirsch School of Education, Los Angeles.

Sharon’s work experience as a mental Health Therapist included providing individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, and case management to children and adolescents in a school-based setting for the Youth Service Bureau (YSB).

As part of her previous career as a teacher, she worked with and supported students on various social-emotional and learning needs. Sharon draws insight from counseling and teaching experience in school settings to provide children and caregivers with counseling support on the growth goals and challenges they bring to therapy. Sharon practices eclectic counseling drawing from various approaches, techniques, and methods

based on the individual needs of children using a culturally responsive systems lens. Some of her preferred evidence-based therapy tools include Psychoeducation, motivational Interviewing, Internal Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, and Family Systems.

Sharon enjoys traveling with her family, gardening, and Genealogy.
