Lisa Walton

Lisa, a California Licensed Educational Psychologist, began her career in a very interesting way. She worked as a mechanical engineer after graduating from Carnegie Mellon University before transitioning to a career as a psychologist. That transition included teaching math and physics in a high school, which helped her realize her true passion of working with youth and their families. Lisa then received her PhD in educational psychology from University of California, Berkeley. Today, she has more than 20 years of experience, both within schools and the private sector.

She has served as a coordinator of special education services, which includes supervising a multidisciplinary team, maintaining programs, and developing Individualized Education Plans. Lisa also has experience as a child advocate and provides collaborative consultation to parents regarding IEP implementation.

In addition, Lisa participates in a Bay Area speaker’s network, and lectures on a variety of topics related to positive parenting, child development and the benefits of early intervention. She is certified in Parent Effectiveness Training and as a Mindful Educator, presenting 8-week structured curriculum in mindfulness. Lisa is also skilled in the development of Applied Behavior Analysis and DIR Floortime therapy programs, and is active in developing positive behavior interventions for young children.
